Without Bees, Our World Would Be In Big Trouble!
We Need Bees To Survive
Pollination
Bees pollinate 70 different types of the 100 crop species that make up most of the world’s food. Food producers rely on pollination, most of which is accomplished by bees as they gather pollen and nectar from flowering plants. Bees are so important for agriculture that it’s common for farmers to have bees shipped hundreds of miles to their farms to pollinate their crops. Please don’t kill the bees. If you see a swarm of bees in the process of relocating or taking a break on your property, Remain calm, remember most bees will not sting you unless you swat at them or threaten them first. Swarming bees are generally not dangerous. Please call Integrity; we can connect you with local beekeepers that will relocate the bees. We know several beekeepers that live in the area, who are willing and eager to remove a swarm of bees, in most cases at no charge to you.
Pollinators Wanted!
Bees
The world needs to be aware of Colony Collapse Disorder. The bees are truly in a state of emergency and require all hands on deck in regard to protection. Some reports state that American has lost as much as 36% of its hives since 2007. From honey to the full out food chain, and pollination, this insect is vital in the American Ecosystem.
Bats
Bats keep us from being over run by insects, fertilize plants, and are a secondary pollinator. Bats serve a great purpose in the ever changing American Ecosystem and even may have part in the availability of tequila and a potential role in some medications.
Other Pollinators
Other pollinators include pollen wasps, ants, some flies, butterflies, moths, beetles, bird, monkeys, and other not so urban animals.
Are Bees Insects Or Animals?
Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants. The most popular bee is the European Honey Bee. Bees are indispensable due to their role in pollination, producing honey and beeswax.
What If Bees Went Extinct?
The question remains, where would we be without bees? They still seem to be at the top of the important species list. According a BBC report, they pollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world. Honey bees are responsible for $30 billion a year in crops.
It certainly seems like losing bees would mean we would lose some of these crop types that are the main responsibility of bees. Although, there are other pollinators it does seem that bees would be a devastating loss to our current food chain.
Bee populations are actually in decline and there are several reasons to consider: the loss of flower meadows, the crab-like varroa mite, hive beetles, & wax moths.
