3 steps to remove your pest problem!

$

There is no magic wand or silver bullets. Getting rid of an infestation is a process, it takes time and will require your patience and your help.

The three basic needs of any living thing are

1. Food

2. Water

3.Shelter

All pests need these three basic needs too. When we completely eliminate any one of these needs the pest will be eliminated too. A homeowner is not likely able to eliminate – 100% – of all three needs on their own and that is why we get the call. At Integrity Pest Management we work hard to solve your pest problems because at the end of the day no one wants an unwanted guest.

There are several things the homeowner can do to assist us in making a home less desirable to insect pests. With your help you will encounter fewer pests for a longer period of time.

We use the common sense approach that says that any organism, pests included, will look for certain conditions that ensure its survival. If one or more of those conditions cannot be met a pest will look and live elsewhere. When our technician inspects a property where a pest problem exists, we try to identify what invited that critter onto the property in the first place. When we remove the invitation that made your home look appealing we now can focus on removing the remaining guests without worrying about new “friends” showing up to the party.

We look for reasons why the pests are present, and ask for your assistance in changing the environment physically to make it less inviting for pests. For instance If you move firewood away from the house you’ll be less likely to invite termites into the home and probably won’t be bothered by silverfish, carpenter ants, or spiders near as much. If you inspect food items when they are brought in and properly rotate and store them, you are less likely to be invaded by ants, Indian meal moths or cockroaches.

For more tips on the ways that you can eliminate some of the environments that are sending pest the wrong message visit us on Facebook or Youtube today.

Integrity’s Commitment To Environmental Stewardship

Integrity’s Environmentally Friendly Approach To Service

Green Pest Management is a more eco-friendly way of describing Integrated Pest Management (IPM). We are committed to IPM. That means we aim to protect the environment, and future eco-systems, while delivering the best pest solution to our clients possible. We aim to minimize the use of chemicals while maintaining our world-class pest control solutions. In other words, you won’t find our technicians dumping chemicals on your property in hopes that covering the property might rid the home of unwanted pests. We are among 3% of pest control companies awarded the Quality Pro (QP) distinction. For pest control companies that is a BIG thing. Our name “integrity” extends to our clients and their pest problems, the future ecosystems, and the planet at large.

In order to accomplish GPM we use a multi-step approach to Pest Management. You cannot get away from the use of chemicals in Pest Management, however, by including prevention and monitoring techniques that we have developed over the last 30+ years, we have developed techniques that allow us to be much wiser with our use of pesticides. In this, we have remained responsible and highly effective.

The 5 Steps of GPM – Integrity’s Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

It is nearly impossible for a DIY pest management program to be classified as GPM. Green Pest Management requires the guidance and knowledge of a pest professional that understands bugs, rodents, life cycles, pest volumes, and other insect-ecosystem interactions that are not well known. This web of relationships makes it very difficult for a DIY to use GPM. We would only aim to encourage anyone that is attempting to take on such a responsibility. Here is our 5 step approach to GPM

Step 1: Inspection

As with most things, the first step is absolutely critical to an effective eco-friendly pest management program. Insects and rodents are actually critical to the ecological balance of the earth and must be regarded as friend before foe. When an insect or rodent becomes a pest and endangers health and property, then a new balance must be created. Here is where our Integrated Pest Management approach to Pest Management really takes over as the leader in the industry. During the inspection phase of GPM the Pest Management Professional (PMP) inspects for pests, cracks, damage, and hiding warning signs. The PMP looks for food & water sources, any signs of pest history. This step cannot be skipped, overlooked, or downplayed. This is where a prevention plan is developed in order to secure your home from potential pest invasions.

Step 2: Removal of Food and Harborage

If pesticides is the sole means of pest control, then all other steps get skipped or ignored. Strictly chemical approaches control infestations by introducing large amounts of of pesticides into the environment without regard to environmental effects. In GPM, infestations are first discourages by creating environments that are unsuitable for rapid population expansion. What does this mean? First we must remove the food & water sources (i.e. leaky pipes), compost, yard debris, accessible pet food, garbage, and other food sources. If these issues are not addressed, then the problem has a good likelihood of returning following the treatment. Education is everything with long term management of pest annoyances & infestations.

Step 3: Exclusion

During exclusion we identify problem areas, and put forth a plan in order to fix vulnerability points. There is so much pest management that must be completed before chemicals are every introduced to the property. As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, Integrity is a member of the National Pest Management Association’s Quality Pro program, which maintains rigorous ethical and operational standards for professional pest control operators. In this step your PMP will maintain a vigilant effort to remove or seal points of entry into your home and keep them sealed off. Remember, debris piles, overhanging branches, high moisture areas, must be addressed. This exclusion process eliminates portals of entry into your home for pests & rodents.

Step 4: Judicious Usage of Pesticides

Even after thoroughly assessing the situation and removing food sources and exclusions, a pesticide program must be developed in order to pest proof your home, property, and family. In a eco-conscientious pest management program, pesticide use is only one component of the program. in fact, Integrated Pest Management requires an eco-minded approach to pest use. Due to this, our technicians are more focused, accurate, and willing to use restraint to protect everyone involved, future & present. In other words, we treat the problem, and we focus on location and quantity in order to maximize our world-class status in pest management, while reducing our footprint. Never trust a PMP that over uses pesticides in hopes of treating the unknown with a luck based approach to Pest Management.  As often as possible, we will monitor our product use in order to lower toxicity t people, pests, non-target pests and the environment.

Step 5: Monitoring

Pest Management is not a hit & run process. Monitoring is as important as the initial inspection. Our technicians know how to monitor your home in order to encourage conditions that discourage pests, and to identify pests before they becomes a full-blown infestation. This five step process is Integrity’s Commitment To Environmental Stewardship.

Building Industry Pest Services

Preventive Termite Control For Builders

Protect your reputation as a home builder by insisting that Integrity Pest Management perform the pre-treat on your project. It’s estimated that Termites do $5 billion in property damage each year. Among the many services, we provide to the building industry, pre-treatments are one of our greatest offerings.

Pre-treatments can save a reputation and/or a building. Termites are not the only potential infestation that can be prevented with treatment, however, they are the ones attributed with the most annual damage to home, property, and other. Integrity is a leader in pre-construction termite services.

Why Should Home Builders Choose Integrity For Pre-Construction Termite Control?

What Is Integrity’s Termite Pre-Treatment?

Integrity uses Termidor, America’s best Termiticide for our soil treatments, and we also offer wood treatments using BoraCare during the dried in stage of construction. These products can only be applied by trained, licensed pest control professionals. We have used these treatment products & methods in homebuilding & other industrial applications since 2001.

How Does Termite Pre-Treatment Work?

These products are applied to areas in and around the premises, which is immediately effective against termites. Termites have no chance against our odorless, undetectable treatments. As termites forage through the treated areas they unknowingly ingest the product while in the treatment zones. Even coming into contact with the product is enough to create “carrier” termites. This process creates primary, secondary, tertiary carriers, and so forth. This process allows for the product to be spread through an entire infesting colony yielding devastating effects on existing termite colonies.

Why Should Home Builders Choose Integrity For Pre-Construction Termite Control?

We understand that termite pre-treatments are price sensitive. Even so, we have seen a major increase in home building professionals employing these safeguards. Our top of the line services are a common customization with upscale home builds and should be looked at as something that increases the value of the home. This is an extremely valuable property enhancement for your client.

The US Department of Agriculture Forest Service has been testing these products since 1994 and have declared that these products provide 100% control at concrete slab and ground board test sites. This success is unmatched by any other commercially available pre treatment product.

How Can My Home Builder Ensure My New Home Is Protected From Termites?

Make sure your homebuilder is acquainted with our services. In order to be able to apply pre-treatment to a new home build, it must be scheduled very early in the process for best results and manageable timelines. Call Integrity for Building Industry Pest Services and More.

Pest Control For Schools

Pest Control For Schools, Colleges, Universities, & Education

The EPA has decided to carry the torch by mandating that schools follow Federal Law: “support the adoption of IPM”. Here is the Federal Government on Integrated Pest Management. Protecting Children’s health is our number 1 priority. Students and adults may contract diseases vectored by biting insects, suffer asthma attacks caused by allergens or triggers from cockroach and rodent infestations, and be exposed to unnecessary pesticide applications in schools. According to the EPA only a small percentage of schools are following this mandate by the Federal Government, by employing companies that use Integrated Pest Management. Integrity is fully aware of this law change and completely IPM integrated.

How To Choose A Pest Control Company

How To Choose A Pest Management Company

Seven questions that matter when choosing a pesticide company.

1. Are they licensed? They need to be licensed, bonded and insured for your protection.
2. Are they local? Ask your friends, family and co-workers who they use or have used in the past.
3. Are they professional? If so, they will adhere to a professional code of ethics.
4. Do they know what they are doing? They should have specific knowledge about seasonal, rare, and typical insects, pests, and rodents.
Some companies have many areas of expertise; while others have only a limited specialty.
5. Are they reputable? Check to see if they are listed in the local phone book. Check with the local office of The Better Business Bureau. Look for any online news or reviews about the company.
6. Is that a company vehicle? How do I know that guy at the door is who he says he is? State law requires that pest control company vehicles be clearly lettered with company name and license number on both sides of the vehicle.
7. Do employees of the company wear a company uniform, have a business card and proper credentials issued by (ODAFF) The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Food and Forestry Division has best practices.

Without Bees, Our World Would Be In Big Trouble!

We Need Bees To Survive

Pollination

Bees pollinate 70 different types of the 100 crop species that make up most of the world’s food. Food producers rely on pollination, most of which is accomplished by bees as they gather pollen and nectar from flowering plants. Bees are so important for agriculture that it’s common for farmers to have bees shipped hundreds of miles to their farms to pollinate their crops. Please don’t kill the bees. If you see a swarm of bees in the process of relocating or taking a break on your property, Remain calm, remember most bees will not sting you unless you swat at them or threaten them first. Swarming bees are generally not dangerous. Please call Integrity; we can connect you with local beekeepers that will relocate the bees. We know several beekeepers that live in the area, who are willing and eager to remove a swarm of bees, in most cases at no charge to you.

Pollinators Wanted!

Bees

The world needs to be aware of Colony Collapse Disorder. The bees are truly in a state of emergency and require all hands on deck in regard to protection. Some reports state that American has lost as much as 36% of its hives since 2007. From honey to the full out food chain, and pollination, this insect is vital in the American Ecosystem.

Bats

Bats keep us from being over run by insects, fertilize plants, and are a secondary pollinator. Bats serve a great purpose in the ever changing American Ecosystem and even may have  part in the availability of tequila and a potential role in some medications.

Other Pollinators

Other pollinators include pollen wasps, ants, some flies, butterflies, moths, beetles, bird, monkeys, and other not so urban animals.

Are Bees Insects Or Animals?

Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants. The most popular bee is the European Honey Bee. Bees are indispensable due to their role in pollination, producing honey and beeswax.

What If Bees Went Extinct?

The question remains, where would we be without bees? They still seem to be at the top of the important species list. According a BBC report, they pollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world. Honey bees are responsible for $30 billion a year in crops.

It certainly seems like losing bees would mean we would lose some of these crop types that are the main responsibility of bees. Although, there are other pollinators it does seem that bees would be a devastating loss to our current food chain.

Bee populations are actually in decline and there are several reasons to consider: the loss of flower meadows, the crab-like varroa mite, hive beetles, & wax moths.

Assess & Treat

Major Disease Transmitters

Your property could be a breeding ground for thousands of mosquitoes. Call Integrity Pest Management for assessment and control. Mosquitoes are known to transmit Dengue Fever, Malaria, West Nile Virus, Zika virus, “Infectious diseases are spreading geographically much faster than at any time in history” – Margaret Chan, M.D., Director-General, World Health Organization.

10 Steps For Managing & Reducing Mosquito Populations

1. Dispose of cans, old tires, buckets, or other containers that collect and hold water. Do not allow water to accumulate in the saucers of flowerpots, or in bird baths and pet dishes for more than 2 days.

2. Clean debris from rain gutters and remove any standing water around structures, or on. Check around faucets and air conditioner units and repair leaks.

3. Change the water in kiddie pools at least once a week and stock ornamental ponds with top feeding precious minnows. Known as mosquito fish, these minnows are about 1 – 1-1/2 inches in length and can be purchased locally. Ornamental ponds may be treated with “Mosquito Dunks” that can be purchased at many garden stores for homeowner use. Fill or drain puddles and swampy areas, and either remove, drain or fill tree holes and stumps with mortar.

4. Eliminate seepage from cisterns, cesspools, and septic tanks.

5. Eliminate standing water around animal watering troughs. Flush livestock water troughs twice a week.

6. Check for trapped water in tarps being used to cover boats, pools, etc. Arrange the tarp to drain the water.

7. Check around construction sites or do-it-yourself improvements to ensure that proper back filling and grading prevent drainage problems.

8. Irrigate lawns and gardens carefully to prevent water from standing for several days.

9. If drainage ditches do not flow and contain stagnant water for one week or longer, they can produce large numbers of mosquitoes. Report such conditions to County Mosquito Abatement or Health Department.

10. Do not attempt to clear these ditches because they may be protected by wetland regulations. Mosquitoes are flying insects, so we can’t keep them from invading our community, but we can treat lawns and landing zones to help protect your family from these disease spreading bloodsuckers. Commercial – Preventive Pest Control

Preventive pest control from Integrity is a key ingredient for maintaining the health, appearance and atmosphere of your commercial buildings and businesses.

Office buildings, strip malls, retail stores, multi-use buildings, recreation centers, gyms and other commercial properties have to be especially mindful of their image. The constant stream of visitors in and out of commercial properties provides pests the opportunity to enter a building.

Once inside, pests can rapidly become a building-wide problem. Year-round prevention and quick action with retail and office building pest extermination services is the most efficient solution.

Control Pest Infestations in Office Buildings Almost any type of pest will move into a commercial property, but some are more common than others.

Common Commercial Property Bug Problems

Gnats, flies, cockroaches and mice are frequent problems. While less common, bedbugs can also find their way into offices. Retail properties and offices may seem like a dull spot for pests, but there are a surprising number of places for pests to thrive inside the average commercial property. Integrity will inspect and treat common the areas of concern, including:

Break rooms • Restrooms • Entryways • Hallways • Storage areas • Parking garages • Exterior doors and loading areas • Outdoor garbage receptacles

With years of professional experience behind us, we are confident that we will be able to keep your building free of pests. View our Services page for more information. Integrity Commercial Buildings Pest Control and Extermination.

BEST PRACTICES

Pest management is a moving target. Pests change and adapt to management techniques. Our technicians are trained through national and state level training courses and are up to date on best practices. We GUARANTEE We will always bring to your house & business the best practices in the industry. Our aim is to be the leader in technology, science, and the art of pest control, while maintaining integrity to home, family, and the environment. Those best practices include best practices in regard to extermination, best practices with clients, and best practices with protecting families, citizens, other insects, and ecosystems.

INSPECT & LEARN PREMISES

In this process our technicians are looking for the pest or evidence of the pest. The potential ecosystem, environment factors, and unique plants, shades, water sources and food sources that exist. When looking at the turf and ornamentals, we’re looking for stress & damage. This process includes identification of damage, the pest, & frass produced by the pest. Sometimes it’s a game of timing. Catching them in the act makes the monitoring process much more precise. Other devices and tools aid us in identifying the pest when the timing is off. And recording and record-keeping is critical. We document what, when, where so that we can monitor next year or when similar conditions are met some time in the future.

TARGET PEST

There are thresholds that must be considered when making a decision to treat such as: damage threshold, insect abundance threshold, and even an aesthetic threshold. Basically, at what threshold of damage to plants, trees, and property or amount of insect infestation is beyond an acceptable level and runs the risk of causing irreversible damage. Defining damage thresholds, diagnosing, & treating ornamental ecosystem injury bears an additional level of complexity in urban landscapes as aesthetic value can be lost very quickly with even a small insect population.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

The questions that must be asked after treatment strategy is initiated. How well did that management strategy work? How was the environment affected and responding? Have we affected insect that were outside the treatment scope? Through continued evaluation the approach to pest treatment is altered if needed. All of these questions must be evaluated in the process of treatment: Are pests dying? Is there still a presence of beneficial pests? Are there fewer pests? Are plants healthier? Is our current approach yielding better results than previous treatments? Managing pests in homes & landscapes is complex, difficult, and dynamic. There are many connected pieces in these ecosystems that must be monitored and managed. Our responsibility to be environmentally conscious by evolving our approach and chemical use is a responsibility we bare with great pride. It is our goal to be the best at pest management & extermination and the best at being in front of the curve with environmental responsibility.

Our technicians are trained to meet all your pest control needs, while educating your staff on the most efficient preventive measures.

You cannot get away from the use of chemicals in Pest Management, however, by including prevention and monitoring techniques that we have developed over the last 30+ years, we have developed techniques that allow us to be much wiser with our use of pesticides. Mite Control: Mites

Description

Certain members of the subclass Acari, more commonly known as mites, are minuscule arachnids with four pairs of legs. There are many varieties of mites, but most of them will be less than one-millimeter long. While the majority of mites are harmless, there are some that can be a detriment, and an infestation of mites can still be a problem. Mite Inspection>>

Region

World Wide

  • Mites can live on land or in water.
  • Can be found in a large variety of climates.
  • Some mites are free-living, others are parasitic.
  • Live both indoors and outdoors.

Habits

The habits largely depend on the particular type of mite. For example, parasitic mites can feed on anything from mammals (humans included), to birds, to other insects. Some mites are microbial filter feeders, and others will eat plants. Others might go unnoticed, such as dust mites, which are microscopic. For those that are parasitic or plant-eaters, they can cause skin irritation or destruction of crops. Tulsa Inspector>>

Habitat

A mite’s habitat depends greatly on the mite, as certain mites can last in cold climates or high altitudes, and others cannot. Some mites prefer to live on decaying organic materials, some live in soil, and some live on plants or fungi. Parasitic mites live on a host.

Reproduction

When most mites reproduce, the female is inseminated indirectly, although some reproduce directly. The female mite will lay its eggs in the surface on which the mites live, which in turn can take days or weeks to hatch, depending on the species.

Lifespan

Mites begin life in a larval stage, after which they molt into protonymphs, and then adults. Once they reach the adult stage, the amount of time that they live for depends on the species. Some mites can live for months, while others only for weeks.

Threats

Most mites are harmless, however the ones that are harmful can pose significant threats to people and vegetation alike. Parasitic mites can bite and cause skin irritation, and ones like the chigger can (in rare cases) spread various diseases. Dust mites can cause allergies or trigger an asthma attack. The itch mite (sarcoptes scabiei) burrows into a host’s skin, and gives them a skin infestation called scabies. For pet owners, the itch mite can be responsible for sarcoptic mange, too, which causes skin irritation. Mites that eat plants can cause massive amounts of destruction to crops if left unchecked. Furthermore, mites are difficult to detect due to their diminutive size. Tulsa Pest Control>>

Prevention

Mite infestation prevention is, for the most part, simple. Insecticides can deal with some mites that are harmful to plants. Insecticides can deal with some mites, but other times specialized miticides are required to deal with certain species. For spider mites, a cloth dampened with a diluted detergent solution (one-and-a-half teaspoons mixed in a gallon of water) can be used to wipe them from plants they have infested. For dust mites, adequate cleanliness and regular washing of household fabrics should prevent an infestation of them. In other cases, however, a professional might be needed to prevent an infestation.

LADYBUGS…?

LADYBUGS…?

You may have experienced Asian Lady Beetles in the last day or two as they are looking for a place to spend the winter.

In nature, they would over-winter inside trees and under leaf litter. However, they also tend to congregate on the sunny, southwest facing sides of homes and buildings, moving into cracks and crevices and invading through tiny gaps around windows, doors, siding, and soffits.

Once inside, they can get into the wall voids, light fixtures, attics, suspended ceilings, etc… to spend the winter.

The good news is they do not pose a threat to your health or damage your home. Aside from the stinky smell if you touch them or a possible stain if you smash them. The real issue is the sheer numbers of them that can enter your home.

For most folks, it is beyond just a nuisance. It’s simply overwhelming and if you are already in the midst of an infestation the best course of action is to reach for the vacuum to tackle the swarms that are already inside.

Preventing them from entering in the first place, is always the best course of action, but it’s nearly impossible too. Sealing the cracks and crevices, repairing damaged screens, installing screens behind vents will go a long way in keeping them out, next time.

BUT, because it may be difficult to find and gain access to every tiny crack there is around your home, having Integrity Pest Management regularly do an Exterior Defense Treatment is a great way to create a layer of protection around the outside of your home. LADYBUGS…?

We’ll target the entry points and landing zones, such as the eaves, windows, soffits, vents, etc. They’ll still find a way in, and you’ll still have to vacuum them up, but there will be a lot fewer than if you do not treat.
If they are invading your home, then now is the best time to get an Exterior Defense Treatment.
